About the Council
The Governor’s Council on Innovation and Technology (GCIT), a catalyst for developing new economic development strategies, focuses primarily on improving Arizona’s knowledge-based economy.
As the Governor’s principal advisory group, its members include Arizona’s most experienced and knowledgeable business and industry leaders.
The Council’s goals and objectives focus on areas that foster innovation, creation and entrepreneurial expansion of technology-based companies throughout the state of Arizona.
The Council, in an effort to strengthen the innovation and technology infrastructure in Arizona, produced a series of recommendations presented to the Governor.
The Council, charged with developing the framework and vision to enable Arizona to become a global leader in innovation and technology research, development and product creation, launched significant initiatives and presented a Progress Report to the Governor in September 05.
Currently, new committees have been formed to develop programs that enhance Arizona’s global competitiveness in the 21st century. Future meeting dates, past agendas and minutes are available.
