Profile: GET Phoenix

Arizona young professionals have a new way to network, connect with their community, and develop professionally through the launch of GET Phoenix, a workforce development initiative of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, GET Phoenix is aimed at retaining young professionals and attracting new professionals to the Metro Phoenix area.

For every 7 baby boomers retiring from the workforce, only 5 young professionals enter in their place. In light of Arizona’s workforce shortage, GET Phoenix is focused on stopping the “brain drain” of new graduates and young professionals to other regions. GET will provide opportunities for social networking and professional development as well as encourage civic awareness and community participation.

“The new generation of professionals chooses a city first and looks for a job second. By establishing Phoenix as a place where young professionals can be connected and make an impact on their community, Metro Phoenix will become a choice destination for college graduates and young professionals,” said Trilese DiLeo, Manager of Workforce and Economic Development Initiatives at the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce. “We choose the name GET to represent the need to Grow Emerging Talent within our local community.

GET is driven by the philosophy that today’s young professionals want to get, give, and go. YP’s want to get connected, give back, and go on to accomplish great things. GET will provide these opportunities through monthly socials, roundtables with business executives, community service, and increasing political awareness.

An advisory council of 20 young professionals’ representing a diversity of business types, sizes and geographical locations guide the programs and services of GET. The organization has the strong support of local businesses, including its founding sponsor, APS and founding partner, Jobing.com.
