Our History

In 1981, a few trailblazing Arizona women took on the challenge of changing lives through the dignity of work. They resolved to help the growing population of unemployed women in our community reclaim their lives by moving from welfare to the workplace. Their singular vision and passion helped spark the launch of Arizona Women’s Education & Employment Inc. (AWEE).
Since then, AWEE has grown to become Arizona’s preeminent workforce development organization, impacting the lives of more than 50,000 individuals. AWEE offers a full range of evidence-based training and support services to women, men and their families from five locations in Maricopa County and one in Yavapai County.
